Sweet Polish plum pierogi: a simple and tasty sweet treat

Plum pierogi, or pierogi ze śliwkami, is a classic Polish lunch or dessert that’s as comforting as it is delicious. These sweet dumplings are surprisingly simple to make, yet they hold a special place in Polish kitchens and hearts.

Why Plum Pierogi?

For me, plum pierogi are more than just a dessert. They’re a way to soothe doubts and find sweetness in life’s uncertainties. After leaving my IT job, I began making pierogi as a sort of therapy. Wrapping fresh plums in dough and sprinkling them with cinnamon sugar became a comforting ritual, one that I want to share with you.

Simple Ingredients, Incredible Flavor

The recipe is straightforward. You only need fresh plums, pierogi dough (flour, water, egg), and cinnamon sugar to sprinkle on top. The plums are cut, wrapped in the dough, boiled until they float, and then finished with a sweet dusting of cinnamon sugar. The result is a tender, juicy treat perfect for a sweet lunch or dessert.

A Taste of Polish Tradition

Plum pierogi are a nostalgic treat that evoke Polish homeliness and warmth. Whether you’re new to cooking Eastern European cuisine, this recipe is a perfect place to start. It is also ideal if you are looking for a sweet comfort food. Try It Yourself. I hope this plum pierogi brings you as much comfort and joy as it has brought me on my journey.
Smacznego. That’s bon appétit in Polish!
