Cake and tea, it’s a classic combo in Poland, especially when friends or family visit. This plum cake is one of those simple, cozy desserts that feels like a warm hug with every bite. Juicy plums keep it moist and full of flavor, making it perfect for sharing or just treating yourself.

A while ago, I left my IT job to find a new path in life. By chance, I found my way back to a passion I hadn’t forgotten: Polish food. Today, I’m a pierogi teacher and food tour guide in Kraków, but baking remains one of my favorite ways to slow down and enjoy the moment.
I have a big sweet tooth, so I love baking too. Sometimes I make traditional Polish treats like poppyseed strudel or “drożdżówki” (those famous yeast buns), which are amazing, but can be a bit tricky. That’s why this cake is so great. It’s quick and easy to make. You whisk the wet ingredients, mix in the dry, pour the batter into a pan, and lay juicy plums on top. Then bake and enjoy!
For me, cooking and baking aren’t about perfection. It’s about taking time for yourself, sharing good food with people you care about, and finding joy in simple moments.
Are you more of a fruity cake lover, or do you prefer chocolatey desserts? I’d love to hear what kind of cake makes you feel cozy and happy. Share your favorite in the comments!
