It starts to be this time of year when I get a cold more often. The air gets colder, people start to sneeze around you and before I notice I feel under the weather. I’ve only learnt how to make ginger tea when I came to Ireland. One of the girls that I shared an apartment with served it every evening. Ginger work wonders when it comes to keep you warm. The tea recipe is so simple, that it’s hard to talk about a recipe. I think I will use it regularly this winter.

 

Homemade ginger tea

  • 3-4 cm ginger
  • 2 l water
  • a few slices of lemon
  • honey to taste
Wash the ginger.
I don’t peel the ginger, just slice it finely and chop it.
Put ginger and water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 20 to 25 minutes.
Strain it to serve.
If it’s too spicy for you, just dilute it with more water.
Add a slice of lemon and sweeten it with honey.
