I made a gingerbread lip scrub and then I’ve eaten most of it on a toast…
But let’s start from beginning. Lately I have an obsessive urge to make my own cosmetics. It’s been a while since I made yeast face mask, or used a beer for hair wash, to be fair it was in my teens. So maybe I’m just bored with cooking, or need a DIY project, or just want feel younger? I don’t know. But I made a my first lip scrub. It smells Christmasy.
The recipe couldn’t be easier. It takes literally 2 minutes, 5 if you need to find ingredients in your cupboard.
And if you don’t like it as a scrub, then just put it on your toast. I’m not sure which application I like more.

Recipe adapted from Hello Natural
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon gingerbread spice mix (alternatively you can mix ground cinnamon, cardamom and ginger)
Mix all ingredients until well combined.
Keep in a covered container.
To apply – gently massage a very small amount (about the size of half a pea) into your upper and lower lips using circular motions for about one minute.
Lick off the excess. Apply a good lip balm.
